Bio: Brian, originally from Corsicana, Texas, spent 8 years in the Air Force flying on KC-135s and a few years as a military survival instructor where he traveled all over the world including Afghanistan and Iraq. In those travels he discovered how fragile our food system is and how fragile our lives are. Since then he has dedicated most of his adult life to sustainable local food and could probably sum up the way he tries to live with a Thoreau quote. “Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth.” Brian is married to Kisha, his spouse of 21 years, they have three wonderful children and are trying their hardest to keep them farm kids despite the pressures of the world. Brian and his family try to do things differently and always take the road less traveled, they owned a successful farm outside Tulsa, Oklahoma, sold that and lived in a shuttle bus for half a year just traveling around the Southwest and California till they got bored and managed a ranch in Virginia. A few stops in between and Brian and Kisha have found their way to Kroka where they are excited to expand the farming operations and continue to grow in the community.
Favorite Thing About Kroka: The community, we have felt welcome from the beginning and living so far from other family members it is great to have another family to turn to.
Personal Passions: Sustainable local food, flying, and absolutely love the sense of travel and moving in the world. Whether that is flying, canoeing, or hiking somewhere; I love to go and discover.
