In his sparse free time he volunteered on the local ambulance squad and played B league darts. More recently, Dave worked for the National Outdoor Leadership School for 12 years, splitting his time between the classroom and the field. He has led more than 125 NOLS courses, ranging from Backpacking, Climbing, Canyons, and Winter courses to WFAs, WFRs, WAFAs, WEMTs, and instructor trainings.
