Julie Seiler Scholarship

Julie Seiler was a beloved teacher at Kroka Expeditions for four years. Julie had given up a lucrative career as a lawyer to pursue her calling of working with children and sharing with them her love of nature. Julie taught white water paddling to kids of all ages and loved working with Kroka family. When she was diagnosed with cancer in July of 2003, she had to stop working to receive treatment. Dur-ing the time she was undergoing cancer treatment she wrote about her experience with Kroka and it was published in a book titled “A Matter of Choice: 25 People Who Have Changed Their Lives”. Julie was able to return to Kroka the following spring and teach for two more seasons. As her health continued to worsen, she began to think of how she could help Kroka Community that she loved so much. On the last day of her life Julie wrote a letter to Kroka asking that a scholarship be set up to help a deserving female student at-tend Kroka programs every year. With generous donations from Julie’s family, friends, students and Kroka community this scholarship is set in her honor.
