The ideal candidate for this job will have proven leadership capabilities in outdoor education including expedition planning and execution, strong management skills, and a deep respect for the learning potential and resilience of today’s children and young adults. This person has experience in collaborative leadership and the skills to build an effective team with whom they will manage the many different aspects of our organization including, but not limited to: budget oversight, farming, teaching, wilderness program organization and enrollment, resource allocation, and fund-raising. We expect that the person filling this position will help usher Kroka through the next stage of its development, as our current executive directors and founders of the organization, Misha Golfman and Lynne Boudreau, move on to new challenges. The Executive Director is well-supported by a Board of Trustees that includes experienced educators, former Kroka students, parents, and community members.
Kroka Expeditions is a non-profit wilderness expedition school based on a year-round, organic farm in Marlow, New Hampshire. Our staff community are a diverse group of individuals who share a commitment to live simply and purposefully, while working to share skills, knowledge and values in a transformative way through teaching and working together. Adults and youth from a wide range of backgrounds come to Kroka for high-quality outdoor education programs across all seasons. Underlying all of our work at Kroka is the belief that consciousness and altruistic will can and should be brought forth through a living relationship with the natural world, and by taking our places within the circle of community. We believe these principles are becoming ever more precious and indispensable in our current world facing environmental and human challenges at unprecedented scale.
The position is year-round based at Kroka Expeditions in beautiful Marlow, NH, with many opportunities for domestic and international travel as part of accompanying teachers and students on expeditions.
