KROKA at LAKE WARREN

Dear Friends and Community,

Thanks to incredible support from more than two-hundred individuals and families, we are thrilled to announce that Kroka Expeditions has taken ownership of the 16 acres at the northern shore of Lake Warren.   Achieving this milestone took a leap of faith from so many of us:  the Kroka staff and trustees who were willing to risk an ambitious fundraising campaign, the Kroka families who trusted that this parcel was crucial to our future programs, and our Lake Warren neighbors who believed that we would be good stewards of the land and waterfront.   Together we raised more than $760,000 towards the purchase price and associated costs.   Special thanks to the team at Galloway Realty, Main Street Title, and BCM Environmental & Land Law for the hard work it took to negotiate the final details of this transaction.

The moment of transfer of real estate is known as a “closing”, as the parties gather to “close” the deal by signing paperwork and transferring funds.   In this case, that occasion also closes the door on any future real estate development for the waterfront parcel.   At the same time we also want to acknowledge this moment as an “opening” for the future – a future that puts the lake itself first – together with the children and wildlife who can benefit the most from preserving it.

In order to celebrate this moment we plan to hold an land dedication gathering on the weekend of November 7th/8th, 2026.   Everyone is invited for a walking tour and a brief celebratory gathering at the waters edge.  Specific details will come in a later email!
