Bikes, Swimming Holes, and Canoes
Ages: 13 - 15
This unique adventure links together secret swimming holes, hidden campsites, and mountain views by a network of bike trails and dirt roads. Set in the heart of Vermont’s Mad River Valley, this expedition will take us through some of the most breathtaking places in New England. The valley’s vast network of machine-built singletrack trails, natural river gorges for cliff-jumping, and farms with fresh berries to pick makes for the perfect summer expedition. We will learn mountain bike skills on unloaded bikes, then head up into the Green Mountains for a week-long truck-supported expedition. Descending back to the valley floor we will switch from bikes to canoes and are rewarded with the swift current, riverside campsites, and refreshing east of life on the river.
Previous mountain biking experience is not required, but students should have a high level of physical fitness and be ready to ride on challenging uphill terrain!
