a unique opportunity…
For the past 10 years, Kroka has enjoyed being next-door neighbors with Barry & Barbara Corriveau, who carefully tended the large white house directly across the street from our campus. The historical landmark (built in the 1790’s) is perhaps one of the more prominent homes in the town of Marlow, with expansive views to the southeast and Pitcher Mountain and it directly overlooks the Kroka campus. Barbara lovingly tended her chickens, garden, fruit bushes and numerous flower beds while also raising show dogs. Barry carefully tended the house (especially traditional fireplaces and antique kitchen elements). They both also enjoyed riding their horses on the many trials easily accessed from their home.
Sadly, Barbara passed away this past fall, and the property will be listed for sale in April 2025 as Barry relocates to be closer to family. Barry has met with us many times during the past few months, and we hope to be able to support his desire that the future owners of the house will preserve some of its history, connection to agriculture, and engagement with the neighborhood.
The 13-acre property is worth approximately $600,000, and in addition to the main house it includes fields, forest, sheds, a three-car garage, two-stall horse barn, and a large workshop. It would make a stunning opportunity for bed-and-breakfast hospitality, with immediate access to so many trails for hiking, mountain biking, and skiing – as well as an abundance of year-round tourists and Kroka families who will want to come and stay in our neighborhood. The possibilities also exist to expand Kroka’s agricultural production, store our off-season vans and trailers, and to meet our critical need for staff housing.
